About the Audio/Visual Department: The Audio/Visual department provides AV services for in-house and rental clients including but not limited to mixing bands for the weekly Jazz caf, creating and running light cues and music playback for dance groups in Cheek theater on Family Day, providing setup and support for laptops and projectors in many meeting spaces throughout the museum, and running audio and lights for lectures located in the Cheek Theater and Reynolds Lecture Hall. General Information: We are currently seeking applications for attentive and organized individuals to join our Audio/Visual Department as an Audio/Visual Technician. Manages all audiovisual functions for museum groups and other groups. One of the main focuses of the job will be mixing Jazz bands weekly in the Atrium and monthly First Friday events. Supports the museum's commitment to provide quality customer service to visitors throughout Virginia and beyond by applying professional talents, knowledge and skill to the museum campus and statewide partnership network, as appropriate and on location as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Working knowledge of audiovisual equipment and production techniques; of the principles and application of audiovisual instruction methods; and of computer equipment and software. Knowledge of digital soundboards (X32,M32, WING), theatrical lighting systems and projection equipment. Working skills in operating audiovisual and peripheral equipment. Experience with the full range of audiovisual equipment with independent responsibility for its operation and client consultation.
Additional Considerations
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies typically obtained through the completion of an academic curriculum or program with course work in media production mass communications or a related field; or equivalent level of practical experience.
