Overview E2 is looking for a Structural Designer to join our team to support one of our main electric utility clients in California. The successful candidate will use AutoCAD to modify or develop relay house drawings, foundation layout and details, steel layout and details, oil containment drawings, firewall drawings, grading, drainage and paving drawings, and the complete bill of materials. The position will work under the direction of the Lead Structural Engineer.

Responsibilities

Utilize 2D or 3D computer-aided design software to create layouts of civil/structural systems, devices, and components, and produce fabrication and assembly drawings.

Use engineering sketches, specifications, and supporting documents to design, detail, document, and verify civil/structural parts, subassemblies, assemblies, or system configurations.

Prepare detailed drawings of parts and assemblies from layouts and designs, including necessary projections, sectional views, and standard specifications.

Interpret verbal or written direction to create a preliminary design.

Perform basic calculations and trigonometry functions associated with area, volume, slope (rise & run) using charts and tables, as required, to complete work assignments.

Check and verify the accuracy of drawings prepared by others.

Prepare bills of material (BOM) and specifications when drawings are complete, and revise drawings and BOM to reflect engineering changes.

Implement revisions and change control per company standards under the direction of senior level designers and engineers.

Assemble information and reference drawings from a variety of sources.

Check field red‑lined drawings and generate accurate as‑built drawings as needed.

Qualifications

High School diploma, Certificate of Training in technical drafting or equivalent experience.

8+ years of experience developing substation structural drawings using AutoCAD.

Ability to create and/or modify drawings from engineer‑provided markups with a high level of attention to detail.

Wage Data Per State Requirements Salary range for this position is $93,000 – $114,000. The starting salary will be commensurate with skill, education, experience, and working environment.

Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment and uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones.

Physical Demands

Ability to sit/stand for up to 8 hours per day.

Ability to move freely for up to 8 hours per day.
