il Buco Family
il Buco Family - Part Time Social Media Specialist (NYC, hybrid)
Please email a cover letter and resume to joan@ilbuco.com if you apply to this role.
Why il Buco Family and why does this role matter? il Buco’s identity is steeped in sensory experience: rustic dining rooms, hand‑crafted food, curated wines, and artisanal ingredients. Great content builds a bridge between that physical, in‑person experience and the digital world: it invites people inside, evokes the smell of fresh bread, the glow of candlelight, and the taste of house‑made pasta. As a Social Media Specialist, you’ll be the storyteller and the curator, helping il Buco translate heritage, traditions, and handcrafted hospitality into something modern, shareable, and irresistible online.
This is a part‑time contract role, based in New York City, estimated at 20 hours per week. The role requires on‑site work (hybrid schedule negotiable) and occasional travel between our retail locations in NYC and Amagansett.
The Ideal Candidate As Social Media Content Specialist for il Buco Family (il Buco, il Buco Alimentari e Vineria, il Buco al Mare, Bottega il Buco and il Buco Vita), you will shape how il Buco shows up online: creating content that reflects the brand’s ethos across social platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and potentially YouTube. You’ll translate the sensory experience of il Buco — from wood‑burning ovens and fresh pasta to warm candlelight and rustic wine cellars — into scroll‑stopping, shareable content. This role is crucial in supporting the brand storytelling and awareness of il Buco Family, cultivating community and driving new and repeat customers to our restaurants and retail businesses.
Conceptualize, film, edit, and publish content that brings il Buco’s personality to life across social platforms
Maintain and coordinate the social content calendar (especially evergreen content tied to ongoing offerings like the Alimentari market, pasta‑making, seasonal menus, wine features, etc.)
Lead weekly brainstorms with marketing & operations teams to pitch and develop new content concepts that reflect il Buco’s aesthetic and culinary values
Monitor social and cultural trends (food, hospitality, lifestyle) to find ways for il Buco to join the conversation in smart, timely, and on‑brand ways
Coordinate and lead filming logistics (kitchen shoots, market, bakery content, wine cellar features, behind‑the‑scenes at restaurant, events, new product launches, key campaigns etc.)
Keep our content library organized and up-to-date (photo/video assets, recipe clips, wine‑feature footage, market‑product showcases, etc.)
Support with monthly social reporting — analyzing performance, deriving content insights, recommending improvements
Collaborate cross‑functionally with marketing, creative, restaurant, and retail teams to ensure content aligns with brand moments (seasonal menus, special events, product launches) and business goals
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
Approximately 2+ years of experience in social media and content creation, with familiarity of platform‑specific best practices (Instagram, TikTok, etc.) and a portfolio showcasing your work.
Experience managing and creating content for multiple accounts with distinct voices, audiences, and messaging styles.
Comfort with video editing and basic graphic design, from quick in‑app mobile edits to software such as Final Cut Pro, Canva, CapCut, or Adobe.
Comfortable appearing on camera, including in restaurant or kitchen settings, and open to playful or creative content aligned with the brand’s tone.
Awareness of social media trends, particularly in food, hospitality, and lifestyle sectors, with a creative approach to translating brand identity into engaging content.
Strong copywriting and storytelling skills, with good command of English grammar and attention to detail, capable of communicating clearly and consistently on brand.
Familiarity with productivity tools such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive) for content planning, reporting, and collaboration.
Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and comfortable working in a dynamic, fast‑paced restaurant, events and retail environment.
Positive and enthusiastic attitude, with a desire to learn, grow, and develop professionally.
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to remain calm under pressure and resolve guest or team‑related conflicts effectively.
Willingness to accept guidance in a positive manner and implement direction productively.
Quick thinking and adaptability in a constantly changing environment.
Collaborative and team‑oriented, able to work effectively with diverse groups including kitchen staff, photographers/videographers, marketing, and operations.
Ability to travel occasionally to our Amagansett location and select onsite/offsite events where needed
Ability to work a standard schedule with flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Physical Demands
Ability to work in a restaurant environment, which may involve varying temperatures.
Ability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods during shoots, events, or restaurant/market coverage.
Ability to lift and carry equipment such as cameras, tripods, lighting, and other production gear as needed (typically up to 25–30 lbs).
Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and move in tight or confined spaces during filming or content setup.
Manual dexterity to operate cameras, filming equipment, and computer systems.
Visual and auditory ability to observe and capture high‑quality content in dynamic environments.
Ability to adapt to occasional physical demands associated with content production.
Pay ranges for the part‑time Social Media Content Specialist position are $30.00–$40.00 per hour.
il Buco Family Group is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
