Job Purpose The
Roadway Design Project Manager
will work under the Director of Design to provide designs, management, and execution of roadway engineering department projects. S/he will be responsible for managing project budgets and deadlines and for providing Quality Control efforts. Additionally, the Project Manager will support business development efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide project management including planning, developing, implementing, managing, and evaluating design projects to ensure company objectives are met.
Oversee and participate in the preparation of design drawings in accordance with various federal, state, and municipal standards governing the design of roadway engineering projects.
Provide design guidance to production staff and QA/QC.
Lead, manage, and hold accountable project engineers.
Prepare drawings using MicroStation/GEOPAK, AutoTURN, and/or similar software. OpenRoads Designer experience is a plus.
Oversee quantities and cost estimating efforts.
Participate in project administrative activities including proposal preparation, monthly billing, billing projections, etc.
Maintain client satisfaction and confidentiality.
Assist with project pursuits by providing technical expertise on proposals and marketing meetings.
Qualifications Possess a Bachelor’s degree in civil or transportation engineering from an accredited university.
Master’s degree in civil or transportation engineering is a plus.
Possess Professional Engineering license (in, or ability to obtain in, NC and/or VA, SC).
Have 5+ years of transportation engineering experience.
Have experience working with state and local public agencies.
Possess strong analytical, decision‑making, organizational, and time‑management skills.
Use strong written and oral communication skills.
Proficient with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD engineering software packages standard in the industry.
