is a collective of content production teams partnering with EA Studios game teams to bring outstanding visuals, audio and technology to life. Our teams consist of artists, engineers, technicians, designers and development directors. Technical Art

is the bridge between the art and programming departments, with the capability to understand the nuances of art creation and technical code. We create pipelines and tools to improve overall efficiency for all departments we are connected to.

We are looking for a Senior Technical Artist to lead our Capture Technical Art team, supporting Motion Capture, 3D Scanning, and performance acquisition pipelines. You do not need deep prior capture‑specific experience, but you bring pipeline fluency and an understanding of how data flows across tools, sites, and teams. You will guide a small group of Technical Artists, providing both direct leadership and hands‑on technical contributions.

In this role, you'll report to a Senior Technical Art Director and partner with TADs, Capture Supervisors, Animation, Rigging, Engineering, and global EA Create groups. You'll work with them to maintain efficient, scalable, and well‑documented pipelines for delivering high‑value capture data. This is a full‑time hybrid role.

Responsibilities

Manage the Capture Technical Art team

Develop and extend production tools and codebases

Oversee data quality, flow, and pipeline stability across Capture

Partner with Capture leadership to prioritize future development

Work with external partners to coordinate tool development and integration

Collaborate with IT partners to support infrastructure

Collaborate with other Technical Art leaders

Identify and address pipeline inefficiencies

Document workflows, processes, and tool usage

Mentor more junior team members

Qualifications

8+ years of experience in Technical Pipeline Engineering or Technical Artist roles

Expertise in Python development for production systems, APIs, and automation

Expertise with GitLab CI/CD pipeline design, implementation, and optimization

Expertise building and maintaining large‑scale data processing systems

Experience with distributed computing, batch processing APIs, and compute farm orchestration

Experience managing technical teams

Experience with asset processing and content validation

Experience collaborating with IT, engineering, and external partners

Knowledge of containerization (Docker)

Familiarity with modern DCCs (Maya, MotionBuilder, Houdini, Blender, etc.)

Bonus

Familiarity with motion capture or 3D scanning workflows

Experience with Perforce

Experience with PySide

Knowledge of Confluence, Jira, Coda, or similar production tools

Knowledge of AI for code development

Pay Transparency – North America Compensation And Benefits

The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs).

British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) – $119,600 – $167,300 CAD

California (depending on location e.g. Los Angeles vs. San Francisco) – $138,400 – $211,700 USD

In the US, we offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, 10 weeks paid time off to bond with baby, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full‑time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.

In British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top‑up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, and retirement plan to regular full‑time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
