MCLS is looking to supplement an existing technology training program by offering classes to assist job seekers. Underserved communities will be targeted through outreach at library events, and the Navigator will be available to provide one‑on‑one assistance at the library. By visiting multiple branches, the Navigator will bring technology assistance beyond the single branch where the program currently operates.
Digital Navigation Corps is a program of Literacy Minnesota, an organization that connects people to transformative learning, sparks innovation in literacy, and mobilizes change. Literacy Minnesota envisions a future where literacy eliminates injustices and strengthens communities. The literacy work that began 50 years ago in Minnesota is now nationwide, providing curriculum, classes, workshops and research to partners and learners. Digital Navigation Corps is Literacy Minnesota’s response to the digital skills gap that impacts communities across the country. Built on a longstanding tradition of service, and pioneering the newest resources in digital learning, the program addresses critical digital literacy needs by bringing Digital Navigators to work alongside community members who are striving to reach their professional goals. Digital navigators will support community members through one‑on‑one mentorship, classroom‑based instruction, resource guide creation and referrals.
