Broadcast Technical Operator
University of Montevallo is seeking a Broadcast Technical Operator to operate cameras and other broadcast equipment during sports events.
Base Pay Range $9.00/hr
Position Information Department: Communications (Mass Comm) Rate of Pay: $9.00 hourly FLSA: Non-Exempt Employment Status: Part Time Temporary Student
Essential Job Duties
Handheld Camera Operator : Configures and operates handheld, shoulder‑mounted HD cameras on the court for FloSports volleyball and basketball, and Acrobatics and Tumbling broadcasts, operates fixed cameras as needed for FloSports soccer and lacrosse, assists in setup, confirms intercom, aids Remote Producer.
Instant Replay Operator : Operate Strong Hall video instant replay system, manage Ross Video Abekas Mira Replay Software and Hardware, record & manage video content for in‑game playback, create post‑game highlight melt, load asset media, manage commercial playlists, etc.
Graphics Operator : Prepares and operates Xpression Studio graphics system, ensures data sources are connected, correct teams chosen, handles game graphics, updates player and coach bios, creates or updates graphics from producer's rundown, operate during broadcast to display show graphics as directed.
Education & Experience High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Preference given to students who have earned a "B" or better in MC 215.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Operate cameras as directed, lift at least 10 lbs, stand while holding 20 lbs for extended periods, knowledge of video composition.
Working knowledge of Ross Video Abekas Mira software; experience with Mira Replay workflow (preferred); fast‑paced team environment; understanding of volleyball and basketball game flow.
Familiarity with MS Office, Adobe Photoshop or other image editing programs.
