We are seeking an experienced individual to join our broodmare division. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in mare & foal care, experience foaling out mares, and work well in a team-oriented environment.

REQUIREMENTS

Experience handling mares, foals, and weanlings

Work well in a team environment and provide support managing staff within the broodmare division.

Ability to drive a truck and gooseneck trailer

Administering medications, including IV & IM injections

Experience using Microsoft Office, Horse Farm Manager, and record keeping is a plus, but not required.

PRE-EXPORT QUARANTINE MANAGER

The Role The PEQ Manager coordinates pre-export quarantine of horses being exporting to Australia and New Zealand.

The responsibilities of this role include

Daily horse husbandry functions for the care of horses that are in IRT quarantine, including breeding stallions annually.

Ensure that USA, Australia and New Zealand Department of Agriculture requirements for preparation and maintenance of the quarantine facility are met.

Liaison with USDA officials.

Coordinate veterinarians, farriers, and road transport companies as required.

Manage quarantine process from start to finish, including ordering and maintaining levels of feed and other supplies.

Oversee a team of stable staff during the compound period.

Accompany horses when needed as a flying horse attendant to and from Australia and New Zealand.

Assist with post arrival quarantine in Australia and New Zealand, when necessary.

Coordinate with owners, racing managers, and veterinarians to implement and monitor the optimum recovery plan for our horses

Interact with Margaux training staff as the recovering horses move back under tack on the farm as they prepare for their return to the track

Mentor and train staff in the care of injured horses

5 years in the rehabilitation of horses gained from experience in veterinary practices and/or relevant farms

Detailed knowledge of post-surgical and soft tissue injury recovery practices
