Communications Operator - Switchboard
PeaceHealth is seeking a Communications Operator – Security Parking for a Per Diem/Relief, Variable position.
Salary range: $18.25 – $27.39 per hour.
Responsibilities
Operate telephone console (switchboard), directing incoming and outgoing calls to appropriate individuals, departments, and outside contacts; respond to emergency codes; dispatch security; provide information to lobby visitors.
Notify people via overhead paging, two‑way radio, and beeper system as requested.
Extend and respond to all calls, codes, alarm panels, and disaster plans where needed.
Operate physician answering service and handle trouble reports directly with physicians.
Make announcements, assist with directories, record daily telephone statistics, say the evening prayer, announce closing of visiting hours, receive house census from nursing supervisors, and perform other routine clerical/data‑entry tasks as requested.
Report status of console operation to relief when leaving switchboard, including pertinent information about hospital staff and events; report system trouble to telephone technician as directed.
Provide back‑up assistance to other departments as directed.
Operate other communication and emergency systems as required.
Dispatch requests for multiple services as required.

Ability to multi‑task with strong organizational skills (Required)
Proficient computer and keyboarding skills (Required)
Ability to make decisions without direct supervision (Required)
Good spelling and penmanship (Required)
