Position Summary:
The Senior Producer will provide leadership for recording, editing and other elements required in the production of two podcasts for More Than Just Stories, Goshen College’s five-year storytelling initiative on Christian faith and life funded by the Lilly Endowment. This person will work closely with the project director and other faculty colleagues in the Communication Department and the Religion, Justice, and Society Department in contributing to the various projects and activities of More Than Just Stories, which also includes a speech contest, a documentary and a storytelling festival. The senior producer will manage production of the two podcasts, Just Stories and Gratitude Letters, from initial concept to final delivery, with steps that include researching, pre-interviewing, recording and editing. The successful candidate will have experience in using advanced audio and video tools for storytelling in multiple media formats. Beyond these media production responsibilities, this person will be engaged in many elements of the storytelling initiative, including events on and off campus, workshops and staff meetings. Opportunity to teach up to two undergraduate courses each year in the Communication Department, depending on departmental need and personal qualifications. This person will supervise the content production manager and student staff contributing to the podcasting projects. This position requires a creative, self-motivated professional with excellent communication, technical and organizational skills. Attention to details and deadlines is crucial. The Senior Producer will report to the Project Director. Essential Functions:
Manage the entire podcast lifecycle in coordination with faculty directors Coordinate talent and guest relationships for storytelling programs Carry out research and pre-interviews with guests Contribute to script development Oversee recording, editing and other post-production details Oversee copyright compliance, recording releases, licenses for graphics, music and other content sourced for production Review distribution platform analytics to boost podcast visibility Serve as a key member of the storytelling leadership team based in the Communication Department Assist project director in serving as a key point of contact for the storytelling grant, which will require interactions with faculty, administrators and staff across campus Contribute to planning and production in various storytelling projects through effective decision-making in coordination with key stakeholders Attend regular staff and planning meetings Ensure projects are developed according to high quality standards and in keeping with timeline projections Contribute to development of external relations Develop relationships with local, regional and national media partners to enhance distribution of storytelling products Pursue opportunities for Goshen College team members to offer storytelling presentations, workshops and other forms of public engagement in local, regional and national venues Supervisory Responsibility:
The Senior Producer will directly supervise the Content Production Manager and student staff members who contribute to the podcasts. Education and Experience:
The successful candidate should have at least a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study and three to five years of related professional experience. A graduate degree is preferred. REQUIRED: Strong knowledge of production tools such as Pro Tools, Adobe Audition, Hindenburg, Reaper, Riverside, Squadcast and Descript Familiarity with software such as Google Apps and database software such as FileMaker Pro as well as understanding of computer equipment setup and fluency in MacOS, IOS, and Windows 10 operating systems Familiarity with video conferencing tools such as Zoom, Google and Microsoft Ability to work well with a diverse group of internal staff and external partners Experience as an effective supervisor of others in a professional setting Excellent written communication and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently and collaboratively PREFERRED: Master’s or doctoral degree in communication, business, education or related field Competence in handling budget and financial statements Ability to help plan and organize events Cultural competence demonstrated through travel, study or other activities Special Requirements:
