Interior Designer – Contract to Hire (Royal Oak, MI) As an Interior Designer, your primary role will be to create beautiful and exciting spaces, generate the documentation to build those spaces, and oversee the full project lifecycle. You will work from initial conception to project completion, ensuring design intent is maintained through construction administration and final delivery.

Responsibilities

Lead or assist with projects from initial conception to project completion.

Manage construction administration, including submittal reviews, RFI responses, site visits, and coordination with contractors.

Prepare, coordinate, and complete construction document packages, including finish plans, reflected ceiling plans, architectural floor plans, custom millwork design, finish schedules, and fixture schedules.

Assist with interior space planning and programming of projects.

Prepare interior design presentations for the design development phase of projects.

Consult with manufacturers, external consultants, product representatives, furniture dealers, and fabricators.

Serve as a resource on interior design issues to others in the office and oversee the design work of others to ensure integrated and cohesive design.

Efficiently meet specific client deadlines and project goals.

Lead meetings and design charrettes with owners and stakeholders.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or a similar field.

4+ years of experience in an Interior Designer role.

Proficiency in Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, Lumion, AutoCAD, and rendering software.

Strong design, organizational, and high‑attention‑to‑detail skills.

Knowledge of furniture, finishes, materials, color selections, and specifications.

Ability to produce and coordinate a complete set of construction documents for permitting and bidding.

Commercial, multi‑family, or high‑end residential project experience preferred.

Working knowledge of interior code compliance, building code, and accessible design standards.

Skills

Interior design, rendering, space planning, architectural detailing, construction documentation.

Strong visualization and graphical communication skills.

Effective client communication and coordination with contractors.

Experience Level Intermediate

Job Type & Location Contract to Hire, based out of Royal Oak, MI.

Pay and Benefits Hourly: $28.00 – $38.00. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) (pre‑tax and Roth), life insurance, disability, Health Spending Account, transportation benefits, and PTO.
