Events and Communications Coordinator
role at UCLA. The position reports to the Chief Administrative Officer in the Department of Economics and supports all department events, communication services, and marketing initiatives. Base Pay Range
$26.42/hr – $37.49/hr Responsibilities
Coordinate all department events, workshops, and invited guest speakers including faculty recruitment candidates. Book travel, lodging, parking, meeting space, and catering arrangements for speakers and staff. Manage the Department newsletter, social media, and website content and design. Supervise and train five undergraduate office workers performing front‑office duties. Serve as a key contact with facilities for building maintenance, phone and internet services, and emergency plan compliance. Assist in summer session marketing campaigns, flyer design, and distribution for pre‑collegiate summer institutes. Qualifications
1 year or more of demonstrated communication skills with faculty, staff, students, and visitors. 1 year or more of strong written and verbal editing, proofreading, and report composition. 1 year or more of skill in completing confidential tasks with tact and sensitivity. 1 year or more of team‑player ability in a fast‑paced, cross‑functional environment dealing with diverse backgrounds. 1 year or more of independent judgment, prioritization, and change management under competing requests. Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and implement projects with complex logistics. Skill in staff supervision, selection, training, and performance evaluation. Knowledge of campus policies, procedures, and financial management systems. Proficiency with MS Office Suite, Outlook, internet, and basic graphics or multimedia programs. Ability to create and maintain databases, streamline procedures, and manage simple budgets. Background check required. Age 18+. Education & Licenses
Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, or related field (preferred). Schedule
8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (Full‑time, Monday‑Friday). Union/Policy Covered
