As part of the Buildings Group for Garver, this
Fire Protection Designer
will be responsible for developing fire protection designs in support of various Buildings Business Line projects.
Responsibilities
Building fire protection systems
Building fire suppression systems
Building fire alarm systems
Additionally, the role will include coordination with other support disciplines and regional offices, assisting fire protection engineers in the design of building projects, and following quality assurance and quality control plans.
Abilities & Attributes
Knowledge of fire protection, suppression, and alarm principles
Interfacing with project teams on design, delivery, and construction
Managing project budget and schedule compliance
Fire protection design throughout the project lifecycle from conceptual to construction phases
Utilizing BIM design software to produce construction drawings
Using software‑based calculation tools for design calculations
Managing multiple assignments concurrently
Time management and product quality responsibility
Follow Quality Assurance and Quality Control Plans
Continuing education and learning based on project and team needs
Requirements
5-10 years of building fire protection design and construction experience
Knowledge of fire protection engineering principles related to building fire protection designs
Proven experience with fire protection designs, including detailed plans and specifications for building projects
Strong communication and team collaboration skills
Experience with Autodesk Revit
Proficiency with MS Office Suite
Preferred Skills
NICET certification in Fire Protection
Experience with AIA MasterSpec
Knowledge of Federal Agencies design criteria
