Overview University Communication (UC) translates ECU’s message into strategic and compelling communication and campaigns through the university website, news releases, official social media, East magazine, storytelling, promotional videos, infographics, promotional brochures, and annual reports. The purpose is to provide strategic communication and marketing guidance to increase knowledge, understanding, appreciation, and support of the University and its work with broad constituencies, from prospective students to thought leaders to donors.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and measure a comprehensive communications, marketing, and public relations program for the Office of Research, Economic Development, and Engagement (REDE).

Lead REDE’s website, social media channels, and electronic newsletters; create and distribute internal and external marketing materials, research stories, and fact sheets.

Coordinate media relations, write press releases and news tips, manage interview schedules, and coach staff/faculty for media interactions.

Ensure consistent communication of REDE’s image and position throughout ECU, the community, and the region; identify and cover events, issues, and accomplishments.

Manage the appearance of divisional print and electronic materials, including letterhead, logo use, and marketing assets.

Conduct market research, monitor trends, and recommend strategies to enhance communication effectiveness.

Collaborate with Creative Services and university stakeholders to develop visual content and marketing materials.

Provide consulting and advising on communication challenges, emerging issues, and opportunities for the division.

Plan and direct communication and marketing projects, manage timelines and resources, and develop short‑ and long‑term plans.

Minimum Education / Experience

Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the assignment or equivalent combination of training and experience. Degrees must be from accredited institutions.

License or Certification None required.
