Base pay range $52.00/hr - $65.00/hr

Our client is the Brand Design team of a fashion retailer seeking an Art Director for a hybrid 2‑month assignment with a likely extension. The role is onsite 3 days/week (Tues‑Thurs) in Manhattan and requires 40 hours per week. The Art Director must have experiential/environ­mental and retail store design experience to be considered.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience designing in‑store graphics (window displays, signage, bespoke assets, etc.), a solid understanding of the store journey (how to scale imagery for viewing graphics from afar versus up close), and will be familiar working with visual merchandise teams on concepting display designs, creating mockups, and executing assets that make the retail environment successful.

Responsibilities

Concept and execute primarily in‑store window graphics and signage as well as some event/tradeshow assets or direct mail pieces

Create industry‑leading storytelling and experiential design solutions in partnership with Brand Design, Brand Marketing, and Visual Merchandising leadership with a strategic approach on customer engagement

Design and oversee creative assets and layouts for brand, product, retail, and wholesale channels

Collaborate with Creative Ops, Copy team, Photo ADs, Brand Design Director and CD to develop global seasonal campaigns for digital and physical retail environments, including the main website, store windows, displays and signage in owned and wholesale store environments

Review and provide feedback for assets developed by internal designers and external teams

Partner with Marketing, Merchandising, Product and Buying teams to deliver effective solutions to briefs while maintaining the visual and verbal connection vital for compelling storytelling

Research creative trends in both competitive and parallel markets and apply that knowledge to the development of forward‑thinking design solutions for the brand

Maintain cohesive brand and typographic consistency across materials and brand channels

Develop brand identities for collaborations and sub‑brands (research best‑in‑class examples, inspirational images, products, photo‑comp usage examples, and compile final presentation boards)

Lead and mentor other designers

Qualifications

7+ years of experience within a design studio, in‑house creative team or creative agency, including fashion/retail/beauty/lifestyle brand experience

Proficiency in Adobe CS and Figma (Miro is a plus)

Skills in Sketchup or similar 3D programs for rendering are preferred but not required

Strong typography skills is a must!

Experience with cross‑channel brand identity

Bachelor’s degree in Design or related major
