Position Purpose The Digital Marketing and Communications Associate supports learning by strengthening the university’s reputation, financial support, and sustainability through day‑to‑day management and execution of Aurora University’s digital communications and online presence. The role contributes to the development and delivery of website, blog, and social media content that is accurate, engaging, and aligned with university standards. In collaboration with the Director of Digital Content and the Marketing Communications team, the Associate plans, creates, and monitors digital communications while tracking performance and staying current with emerging trends in higher education marketing.

Essential Job Functions

Create, update, and maintain website content in support of the Marketing Communications web development and content team.

Assist with planning, creating, scheduling, and monitoring social media content across university platforms.

Research, write, and edit content for the university blog, website, and other digital communications, as well as print pieces as needed.

Monitor the social media activity of university‑affiliated accounts and track media mentions of the university.

Gather, measure, and summarize basic analytics for website, blog, and social media performance.

Support content consistency by proofreading and fact‑checking for accuracy, accessibility, and alignment with university brand and editorial standards.

Stay current on digital content trends and best practices in higher education marketing and communications.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, English, public relations, or related field required.

Experience

One to two years of relevant internship or work experience in digital content, communications, or marketing preferred.

Special Requirements

A valid driver’s license and driving record meeting institutional requirements is required.

May require travel to off‑site locations.

Skills

Knowledge of content management systems, social media platforms, and Adobe.

Strong writing and editing skills; familiarity with AP Style a plus.

Basic proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and social media management tools.

Excellent organizational, prioritization, and detail‑oriented abilities; quick learner.

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

Ability to work with a computer for long periods of the day.

Ability to attend off‑campus meetings.

Office setting; standing, walking, sitting.

Work Hours

Expected equivalent of 40 hours per week; days/hours may vary as needed. Hybrid or work‑from‑home employment will be considered if candidate can demonstrate ability to fulfill this role effectively off‑site.

Compensation and Benefits The anticipated pay rate for this position is $40,000‑$50,000 per year. This compensation is subject to change at the sole discretion of the university based on institutional needs.
