The Senior Electronic CAD Designer creates moderate to highly complex printed wiring board (PWB) layouts using inputs from schematic designers and other engineering members. The senior electronic CAD designer plays a critical role in the development of designs for new or modified high-density printed wiring boards. Assists in the design and development of moderately complex and detailed layouts of printed wiring boards (PWBs). Job Description
The Senior Electronic CAD Designer will collaborate closely with electrical engineers and other technical staff to develop and refine PWB layouts that meet performance, manufacturability, and compliance objectives. The role requires a deep understanding of PCB design principles, advanced packaging techniques, and industry standards, and the ability to communicate design intent effectively to cross‑functional teams. Duties/Responsibilities
Assists electrical engineers with the design and layout of electrical hardware, primarily printed wiring boards (PWBs), and is able to interpret and understand all basic design requirements. Works on moderate to highly complex PWB designs and associated documentation. Works with moderate to minimal oversight from senior technical personnel. Regularly provides feedback on the effectiveness of processes and work instructions to management. Regularly interfaces with DFM engineers to define and implement fabrication criteria ensuring manufacturability. Assist engineers with constraint editing and entry. Regularly works with multiple senior technical staff members on design projects. Requests management assistance when conflicting information is provided by team members. Effectively communicates project status and issues to management and members of the project team in oral or written form as requested for the project. Performs other duties as assigned. Skills/Abilities
Demonstrated ability to efficiently execute a project task and drive a layout project to completion in a deadline‑driven environment. Good oral and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to collect, organize, and capture design details in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment. Detailed knowledge of Mentor Graphics DxDesigner, Expedition, and Expedition. Advanced packaging design tools required (VX). Working knowledge of AutoCAD (2D) and CAM350. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products. Familiarity with SolidWorks. Familiarity with industry standards: IPC‑7351, JEDEC‑JP95, MIL‑STD‑1835. Knowledge of PWB assembly, PWB fabrication, hardware assembly, or hardware testing. Ability to follow processes and work instructions and adapt to new processes and work instructions quickly. Education
Requires an associate’s degree or certificate from a two‑year technical school in an applicable discipline or demonstrated equivalent knowledge and skills. Formal education in electronics or electrical circuit theory is preferred. Experience
10+ years of experience in the field of PWB design or technical drafting with specific tools knowledge. Experience using advanced packaging layout techniques such as dynamic wire‑bond, complex flex, and 3D die stacking. Additional Job Description

The US base salary range for this full‑time position is $38.00 – $64.60. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Union ranges will be in compliance with the collective bargaining agreement’s approved rates by location and role.
