Library Media Technician – IN-HOUSE ONLY
Internal permanent and temporary Coast Community College District (CCCD) employees only. External candidates not eligible.
About the Role Provides paraprofessional library services including circulation, cataloging, technical support, media services, and student patron support. Second level in technical career ladder.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinate and perform circulation services, scheduling staff, and process library transactions.
Assist students and public with information, instruction on library resources and computer use.
Conduct walk‑and‑talk orientations and process inter‑library loan requests.
Maintain records, conduct physical inventory, and manage media rooms and computer lab.
Oversee Paper Cut printing system, cash handling, and maintain cataloging data accuracy.
Hire and train new staff, update department policies, and collect data for reports.
Perform other related duties as assigned and comply with district policies.
Qualifications
Associate’s degree in library science curriculum or equivalent and two years of experience in an academic library setting (post‑secondary library certificate and four years of experience may be accepted).
In‑depth procedural knowledge of library methods, automated library systems, cataloging, and media services.
Strong communication, customer‑service, and teamwork skills.
Valid driver’s license (may be required).
Demonstrated evidence of responsiveness to racial, ethnic, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic diversity within the community college student population.
Work Conditions Indoor setting, minimal safety considerations. Internal only, Monday through Friday 7:30 am‑4:30 pm.
