Our focus on adaptive reuse projects and experimental construction approaches enables us to incrementally improve resilience, equity, and cultural vitality. Current projects include retail, hospitality, office, mixed‑use, and recreationally‑focused programs.
Position Overview FIRMAH is seeking a thoughtful, self‑directed Project Designer (architect, licensed or unlicensed) with 3–7 years of experience to join our growing studio in Austin. This full‑time, primarily in‑person role involves managing day‑to‑day architectural design and coordination across all project phases—from early concept through construction documents—while collaborating closely with leadership, clients, and other stakeholders. As a core member of the team, you will contribute creatively and technically, nurturing our studio culture with curiosity, care, rigor, and excellent communication.
Qualifications
Professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch, M.Arch, or equivalent)
3–7 years of relevant professional experience in an architecture firm
Strong skills in architectural design and project coordination
Proficiency with Revit and standard design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Rhino, SketchUp, Enscape)
Ability to work through multiple phases of a project, from early design to documentation
Excellent communication skills, both visual and verbal
Collaborative attitude with the ability to work independently and in small teams
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing tasks, timelines, and information
Interest in and respect for holistic sustainability and the social and environmental contexts of our work
Bonus Skills
Adaptive reuse experience
Interior design experience—coordination of interior environments with architectural concepts and building systems, including material, finish, and fixture selection
