Summary Trouble shoot, repair, maintain and program wireless communication equipment such as 2‑way radios, transmitters, receivers, antennas for customers. The technician will develop skills working with but not limited to the following: installing and servicing fire alarm systems, burglar alarm systems, hardwired and wireless systems, CCTV systems, access control systems, intercom systems.

Essential Functions

Diagnose, troubleshoot, discuss, and resolve wireless communication equipment questions and problems with customers in a positive and efficient manner in person on customer’s site, by phone, e‑mail, and at Day Wireless Systems’ shop location.

Perform required diagnostic and analytical tests to diagnose and repair wireless communication equipment.

Analyze and comprehend diagnostic test results and use to repair and program radios and wireless equipment.

Work with customer to determine deadlines, urgency, timeline, and schedule of completing repairs, maintenance, and programming with customers, vendors, and shop management to ensure resolution of problem meets customer’s needs.

Perform wireless communications system programming, per industry practices and vendor criteria.

Perform the installation of radio and wireless mobile and base communications systems per industry practices and vendor criteria.

Report any accidents, maintenance needs, or repairs to management while using any company vehicle. Practice and follow safe driving procedures as described and required in safe driver training.

Must have California Driver’s license and be insurable per an acceptable driving record.

Must be able to travel; this may be local, daily travel or overnight travel.

Must be able to work during the days/hours of Mon‑Thu‑Fri, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and must be available for occasional mandatory overtime, with little to no advance notice.

Non‑Essential Functions

Maintain cleanliness and maintenance of any company vehicle.

Fill out and complete time sheets, job tickets, data entry.

Retrieve parts from warehouse for repairs and maintenance.

Lifting boxes, tools, computers, service monitors, and other shop equipment.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two‑year college or vocational school in electronics and wireless system repair is preferred but not required. Minimum 6 months to a year of related work experience in electronic communications repair is required; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Acceptable previous experience in diagnostics, repair, maintenance, program wireless communication equipment such as 2‑way radios, transmitters, receivers, antennas for customers.

Knowledge:

Knowledge of radio repair, mobile installations, DC, AC, and RF theory as it applies to wireless communications.

Licenses, Certifications:

Valid driver license and must be insurable to drive.

Tools, Equipment, Machines:

Ability to operate test equipment to perform diagnostics on wireless equipment. Basic hand tools such as cordless power drills, screwdrivers, wrenches, etc. are typically used in the performance of this job.
