We’re looking for a dynamic leader to manage the full lifecycle of capital projects, from pre‑construction to close‑out, ensuring safety, quality, and budget compliance. You’ll coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and public agencies to deliver innovative infrastructure solutions that serve communities.

The work

Manage, oversee, and coordinate all facets of the pre‑construction, bid and award, construction, close‑out phases of assigned projects.

Review pre‑construction documents, including designs and specifications, and submit comments to designers as necessary.

Plan, organize, and prepare reports to upper management regarding status and progress.

Coordinate with public agencies, client staff, and project teams during pre‑construction and construction phases.

Monitor the project budget monthly, ensuring accuracy and addressing discrepancies.

Manage daily contractor activities, review construction schedules and submittals, and coordinate responses to contractor inquiries.

Review and negotiate contractor change order proposals, ensuring fair pricing and addressing schedule impacts.

Review and monitor payments to contractors, architects, engineers, and other parties.

Administer provisions of Professional Service Agreements between architects and the district.

Monitor and manage the project close‑out process, including financial close‑out and deliverable completion.

Work onsite at the client site to deliver and cultivate client relationships.

Compensation $130,000 - $160,000 a year (varies by location, role, level, and experience).

Requirements

Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, or construction management.

Possession of a valid Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential or ability to complete CCM within one year of employment.

Minimum of ten (10) years full‑time paid professional experience in construction and/or a combination of project and construction management of commercial and/or public/educational facility construction.

Minimum of three (3) years full‑time paid professional experience with full responsibility for coordinating complex projects with construction values in excess of $10M.

Bonus Points If You Have

Design‑build experience.

Experience utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM).

Experience with LEED certified projects and/or the Collaborative for High‑Performing Schools (CHPS).

Experience with Division of the State Architect (DSA) construction/design processes.

Safety and OSHA Safety Regulations (OSHA 30 minimum).

Valid Certificate of Registration as an Architect by the California Architectural Board or Professional Engineer by the State Board for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.

Valid CCM credential by the Construction Manager Certification Institute (CMCI).
