We are currently seeking a Product Designer to join our Card Servicing Experience design team. The team designs the experiences and tools that enable our servicing associates to help customers, or empower customers to help themselves. This role ensures customers can navigate any question or problem throughout their journey with us.
Responsibilities & Competencies
Product Design Expertise : Leverage deep expertise in interaction, visual, and service design to elevate the quality and maturity of the design practice at Capital One. Work with cross‑functional partners to create journey maps, blueprints, high‑fidelity designs, and prototypes.
Design System Expertise
Build and maintain robust, scalable components with nested instances, variants, text‑properties, booleans, and interactive components.
Document component tech specs and usage guidance (dos, don’ts, accessibility, usage examples).
Create responsive components and documentation via auto layout, constraints, and interactive connections.
Apply atomic design methodology to ensure proper inheritance.
Organize and publish new library versions with risk‑adverse branching controls.
Provide a single source of design truth by managing access and version control.
Human‑Centered : Champion the customer throughout the design process, using data, research, scalability, technology constraints, and feedback.
Business‑Focused : Understand and apply business and customer strategy, negotiate customer needs with business goals, and facilitate design activities with partners.
Problem‑Solving : Build an understanding of technology and data capabilities, emerging technologies, and use this knowledge to inform work and identify new opportunities.
Collaboration
Collaborate with designers across teams to validate and evolve components.
Contribute to the design system with other designers.
Work with the Tech team to keep design and tech libraries in sync.
Perform QA on the technical build of design system components and documentation.
Communication : Present work to audiences across levels and functions, integrating design frameworks, data, and research insights to articulate insights and design decisions.
The ideal candidate has a strong portfolio demonstrating process, results, and impact.
Basic Qualifications
At least 2 years of experience in a Product Design role.
At least 2 years of experience with design and prototyping tools, such as Figma.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience collaborating with product, tech, and business partners.
Experience working with an established design system.
Experience working in heavily regulated, data‑heavy problem spaces.
Compensation
Plano, TX: $99,100 – $113,100 for Sr. Associate, Design
McLean, VA: $109,000 – $124,400 for Sr. Associate, Design
Richmond, VA: $99,100 – $113,100 for Sr. Associate, Design
New York, NY: $118,900 – $135,700 for Sr. Associate, Design
This role is also eligible to earn performance‑based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long‑term incentives (LTI).
