Responsibilities

Assist and support business development team members and lawyers in executing on business plans and client strategies, and track implementation and progress against the plans.

Communicate successes of assigned groups internally and share best practices and group activities to ensure coordinated support across the Business Development & Marketing Department.

Support thought‑leadership publications and offerings, including project management and data mining for business‑development opportunities; ensure robust distribution internally and promotion externally on LinkedIn and other platforms.

Manage direct‑marketing and business‑development programmes, including planning and executing podcasts, videos, seminars, sponsorships, and other events; serve as central resource for logistics and communications.

Support research, data collection and analysis, directory submissions, matter coding, economic reporting, intranet site development and maintenance, and internal meeting support.

Collect matter data from transactions practices globally and maintain the matter database for data quality and firm‑wide availability.

Develop and maintain industry survey and directory ranking content and respond to industry‑survey requests or directory‑ranking submissions.

Track global pipeline activities and engage in competitive intelligence‑gathering for strategic planning, firm positioning, and business‑development activities.

Periodically review and consult with lawyers in product & practice areas regarding their profiles (or bios) and practice descriptions.

Leverage the Firm’s CRM database (InterAction) for business‑development purposes, including pulling activity reports and maintaining contact lists.

Support the drafting, editing, proof‑reading, and tailoring of proposals and presentations to clients and marketing material development.

Develop and maintain group‑specific marketing content, including group and matter descriptions, brochures, PowerPoint presentations, web/blog content, social media posts, and biographies.

When relevant, provide support for seminars, sponsorships, and other events in the local office.

Manage projects/processes independently with limited supervision and provide guidance, coaching and mentorship to junior department members.

Ensure processes and best practices related to graphic design are communicated and understood by stakeholders and colleagues.

Perform additional duties as required to meet Firm goals and objectives.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as marketing, communications, English, or another discipline that requires analytical and advanced writing and research skills.

Six years of experience in business development, marketing, and/or research‑related positions in the professional services arena (law, accounting, or consulting), with a preference for law.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.

Proficiency in scheduling and participating on video conferences in a professional setting.

Familiarity with accepted research techniques and databases used for competitive intelligence (e.g., Manzama, Capital IQ, Mergermarket, LexisNexis, Lexology).

Strong written and oral communication skills, ability to communicate effectively, proactively and in a professional manner with all levels of the Firm and outside vendors.

Excellent interpersonal skills – mature, professional and personable presentation and demeanor.

Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Demonstrates good judgment and problem‑solving capabilities, team‑first and client‑service orientation, and stamina.

Ability to work in an environment with shifting priorities and deadlines and well under pressure.

Self‑starter with a high level of initiative, independent judgment and the ability to advise internal clients on optimal solutions.

Ability to work well in a team as well as independently.

Flexibility to work additional hours as necessary.

Ability to work in a diverse team environment and effectively support demanding needs.

Management Accountabilities (If Applicable)

Manage processes for direct reports in relation to performance appraisals, annual compensation, goal setting and performance counselling.

Show leadership and supervisory experience.

Analysise operational budgets and provide recommendations.

Conduct staffing level analysis and participate in recruitment processes.

Implement change processes to improve workflow efficiencies.

Demonstrate process‑ and service‑oriented leadership and project‑management skills.

Set priorities and delegate efficiently.

Physical Requirements

May require occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs.

May require travel to other offices as needed.

The typical pay scale for this position in New York is between $104,300 and $138,000, although the actual wage or salary could be lower or higher if the candidate’s education, experience, skills and internal pay alignment differ from those specified.
