Position Overview
Paragon Health Institute is seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Communications and Digital Media Associate to join our team. As the Communications and Digital Media Associate, you will assist with Paragon’s communications and digital media work. This role requires exceptional communication skills; a deep understanding of technology, social media, and creative services; and the ability to navigate and respond to various creative requests and technical updates. This role does not require previous knowledge of health policy, though interest in Paragon’s work is a plus.
The Communications and Digital Media Associate will join a dynamic team of policy experts who want to improve health policy by reforming government programs and empowering the American people. This individual will help shape Paragon’s creative work, online presence (via the website and social media), and will track progress and success. This individual will be able to broaden their knowledge of health policy and the policymaking process while making significant contributions to improving media and online connections to advance Paragon’s goals. This role has a competitive starting salary that will be commensurate with experience.
This position reports to the Director of Communications and Operations and will be largely performed from Paragon’s headquarters in Arlington, VA, with the option to work from home on Fridays. There is expected to be minimal travel required for this position.
Key Responsibilities Social Media
Strategically plan social media posts and make posts that take advantage of current events.
Grow Paragon’s online following.
Draft and post social media content including Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram.
Help synthesize and paraphrase Paragon’s research and policy analysis into short consumable formats for the general American public and lawmaker constituents.
Ensure that all social media communications are aligned with the organization’s mission and values.
Work closely with the Director of Communications and Program Manager to execute communication and outreach plans for Paragon products.
Research best practices for various social media platforms and share them with the Paragon team.
Media Monitoring
Frequently review health-related media and flag opportunities for Paragon’s communications and research teams.
Using Salesforce, record mentions of Paragon and Paragon scholars.
Assist with frequent reporting that tracks:
Media hits
Event attendees
Website traffic
Newsletter contacts and open rates
Find and suggest new terms for Paragon’s health policy glossary
Creative Content Generation and Digital Media
Assist with various creative and media products, including but not limited to:
Website, especially:
Laying out research papers and policy briefs
Annual report
PowerPoint presentations
Data visualizations
Cover art and thumbnail images
Newsletter
Video clips
Digital Marketing
Use Google AdWords to advertise Paragon’s research products.
Qualifications Required
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to solve problems.
Ability to meet deadlines and clearly communicate expectations.
Excitement for and alignment with the mission of Paragon.
Creative and multifaceted thinker who balances taking risks against maintaining brand reputation.
Confident, creative and assertive demeanor for presenting Paragon scholars and their work on social media.
Proficiency with at least one technical and creative tool like Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, and Premiere Pro, or WordPress.
Preferred
Knowledge of Salesforce, Mail Chimp, Google Drive, Hootsuite, Microsoft Office (including PowerPoint), Monday.com, and Midjourney.
