Structural Designer Series – State of Missouri
Location: Central Office, 105 West Capitol Avenue, Jefferson City, MO
Salary: $75,000.00 – $100,000.00 (entry level $72,691.68, intermediate $78,506.88)
Overview The structural designer is responsible for structural design computations, analysis, drawings, and sketches for transportation‑related structures such as routine bridges, retaining walls, and box culverts. Responsibilities are performed under moderate supervision.
Responsibilities
Perform structural design computations and analysis and sketches of routine bridges, retaining walls, and box culverts.
Perform structural evaluations for special permit or construction loadings.
Perform supporting calculations, review history files, and update manuals to keep the engineering library updated.
Create sketches by hand or using computer‑aided drafting and design applications to illustrate the structure design.
Rate bridges for load capacities and the federal bridge inventory as required by state statutes and national standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET‑accredited college or university curriculum.
