Job Overview
GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Civil Designer 3 to join our dynamic NE Engineering group. The role is available in any of our offices.
Qualifications
Advanced level of skills – proficiency in Civil 3D and advanced grading tools.
Advanced understanding of corridor and alignment design.
Experience in mass grading and linear projects.
Stays current on software updates and advises based on technical changes.
Promotes and instructs others on advanced techniques and new methods.
Physical Requirements
Work indoors in a professional office setting.
Sit for extended periods while performing computer‑based tasks.
Use hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling office equipment.
Visual acuity to read printed materials, digital screens, and detailed documents.
Occasional standing, walking, bending, or reaching within the office environment.
Lift and carry office materials weighing up to 10–20 pounds.
Adequate hearing for conversations, phone calls, and virtual meetings.
Travel for meetings, training, or business purposes.
Minimum Years of Experience
8+ years of experience.
Education
Associate Degree from an accredited technical school or equivalent experience.
Associates in Drafting or related field (required).
Certification/Licensure
Driver’s License (required).
Technical Responsibilities
Perform and guide others on deliverables with focus on CAD standards, software utilization and data management procedures.
Independently perform analyses.
Project and Task Management
Responsible for task management and adherence to deadlines and scope.
Management Responsibility
Mentor lower‑level CAD operators and provide solutions to unique problems.
Work independently with minimal supervision and receive general review of project work.
Communication Skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Facilitate interaction among staff, coach and mentor lower‑level CAD staff, and interact closely with the project team.
Participate in regular project meetings.
