Costume Designer Sought for BRIDGE CITY at American Legacy Theatre

Mission
American Legacy Theatre generates inviting, reimagined theatrical experiences for all people to have a voice in enriching society.
Project Bridge City is an original full-length musical focused around community, family, loyalty to self, and normalizing the Black experience in pursuit of joy, dreams and aspirations. Developed by American Legacy Theatre since July 2024 through our “Playwright’s for Change” program, this piece is written and composed by Kennen Butler who is an NYC-based theatre artist that is non‑binary and Black.
After two public‑facing workshops performed for the community to receive direct feedback in shaping the continued development of the piece, Bridge City is now being produced as a full‑scale world‑premiere production.
Schedule
Rehearsals: five days per week from March 9th to April 9th (including weekends). March 23‑27 is off for Spring Break. Tech rehearsals will begin April 4 and/or 5, depending on space availability.
Performances: April 10‑12, 17‑19 and 24‑26 (Friday and Saturday evenings, Sunday matinees).
Expectation The Costume Designer will create, plan and execute the costumes that enhance the message of the musical, bolster the actors, leverage space, and heighten audience engagement with the piece. Attendance at production meetings and understanding of staging is required.
ALT staff will assist with critical components along the way.
Compensation Costume Designer stipend: $500.
