Camp Specialist at Artist Studio Summer Camp

Do you love being creative? Do you love working with kids? Join us as an Artist Studio Summer Camp Specialist! Artist Studio Summer Camp is a 4-week arts-based camp at Pullen Arts Center for pre‑teens (ages 12‑13) and teens (ages 14‑15) that encourages skill‑building and creative exploration in a professional studio setting. Camp Specialists work as a team to support the campers, teaching artists, and Camp Director throughout the day. From planning and implementing age‑appropriate games and social activities, to directly supervising and managing behavior, to assisting campers with new materials and techniques, their responsibilities focus on maintaining a safe, fun camp environment that runs smoothly and efficiently. This position is an excellent opportunity to build your knowledge of different art media and the professional studio environment, all while gaining experience in the youth recreation and education fields.
Responsibilities
Organizing and implementing camper drop‑off and pick‑up procedures
Working closely with the Camp Director to plan and implement a variety of arts and social activities by prepping and cleaning up materials, leading instruction, and managing behavior
Working closely with the Teaching Artists to support campers during studio time by prepping and cleaning up materials, helping with art demonstrations, assisting campers with materials and techniques, and managing behavior
Assisting with facility set‑up, maintenance, and clean‑up to ensure that all areas remain clean, organized, and inventoried
Directly supervising and managing camper behavior and safety at all times
Actively engaging with and encouraging campers during studio experiences, art and recreational activities, and walking field trips
Qualifications Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have reliable transportation, and be able to attend and complete all pre‑camp training.
Previous experience working with children or teens, preferably in a summer camp setting, is required. A strong interest in visual arts and crafts is recommended and preferred; a willingness to learn and lead visual arts activities is required. Applicants should also be collaborative, reliable, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment.
