As a Controls Designer, you will be responsible for creating control schemes to operate cooling and monitoring systems on medium and large power transformers. Your role involves utilizing control design and CAD programs to create schematics and wiring diagrams for both customer and manufacturing purposes. You will review customer specifications, include both standard and non‑standard equipment and circuitry, and create bills of materials for manufacturing. Additionally, you will troubleshoot electrical designs during the manufacturing and testing processes.
Responsibilities
Create and develop control schemes for power transformers.
Design schematics and wiring diagrams using control design and CAD programs.
Review customer specifications to integrate standard and non‑standard equipment.
Generate bills of materials for manufacturing.
Troubleshoot electrical designs during manufacturing and testing.
Interpret customer drawings and implement changes into the control scheme.
Complete control component panel layouts for enclosures, including relays, terminal blocks, circuit breakers, switches, wire ducts, and additional components.
Communicate effectively with mechanical designers, manufacturing personnel, customers, and vendors.
Create schematic ladder drawings, panel layouts, and point‑to‑point wiring diagrams for customer review and manufacturing processes using the E3 electrical design program or an alternate ECAD system.
Prepare documentation to assist in the mechanical design of transformers.
Incorporate design revisions based on customer feedback.
Research new components used in control design.
Essential Skills
Experience in controls design and ECAD.
Proficiency in BOM generation and the E3 wiring program.
Strong understanding of relays, circuit breakers, PLCs, panel building, and other control items.
Working knowledge of CAD design tools.
Familiarity with shop methods, industry standards, and wiring procedures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Work Environment This position is based onsite, within a shop‑floor and office environment located on a large manufacturing campus.
Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Goldsboro, NC.
Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $80000.00/yr.
