The Associate Mechanical Designer will be responsible for creating mechanical parts and assemblies for products used within the renewable energy, microgrid, EV charging, crypto mining, and data center markets.

This role supports the Design Engineering team using CAD tools to design and create both piece parts and multi-level assemblies of various products. Beyond the design activities, the individual will work with other disciplines within the organization to validate the design of the product, taking input on design requirements, evaluating various solutions, presenting design concepts, and making recommendations on final design solutions. The position should also have experience in material selection, component costing, fabrication processes, assembly processes, product verification and validation, and design trade-offs.

This position will create 2D prints and 3D models for both piece part components and assemblies along with assembly documentation. Understanding drawing standards, Change Notice practices, and creation on Bills of Material are required.

Minimum Requirements

Education: Associates Degree in Mechanical Design or equivalent.

Experience: 6+ months of product design experience.

Proficient in 2D/3D CAD design software (Inventor, CATIA, SolidWorks, Creo).

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

Experience in sheet metal or heavy fabrication design, Mechanical Design and Drafting, and Bill of Material creation and Change Notice processes.

Experience in large 3D assemblies and electrical equipment preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Performs mechanical designs and calculations under the direct supervision of an Engineer or Team Lead.

Assists in the preparation of mechanical designs for power and low voltage products.

Interacts with the Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Industrial Engineering staff on a regular basis.

Presents technical information during design meetings or reviews.

Creates and updates 2D prints and 3D models for piece parts components.

Creates and updates 3D layouts of top-level and sub-level assemblies.

Prepare Bills of Materials and prepare Change Notices to release components and assemblies.

Supports the creation of technical manuals for operation and maintenance of related products.

Self-checks own work to ensure accuracy to established drawing and design specifications and standards.

Provide technical assistance for prototype and pilot builds along with production support as needed.

Works with suppliers to integrate various components into higher level system designs.

Supports service, aftermarket, and installation teams as needed.

Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

Work Schedule: This position works between the hours of 7 AM and 5 PM, Monday–Friday.

Travel: 10–25 %.

Work Location: Onsite in Menasha, WI.
