Job Description
We are seeking a creative, detail-oriented, and highly organized
Assistant Interior Designer
to support our Interior Design and Decorating projects. This role works closely with the Lead Interior Designer to help bring thoughtful, functional, and aesthetically cohesive spaces to life. The ideal candidate has a strong design sensibility, excellent organizational skills, and is comfortable juggling both creative and logistical responsibilities.
This is
not
a construction or contractor role. This position focuses on interior styling, décor, space planning support, and client-facing project assistance.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Creative Support
Assist the Lead Interior Designer with client consultations, concept development, and design planning Support the creation of mood boards, concept boards, space plans, and design presentations Help source furniture, décor, lighting, textiles, finishes, and accessories aligned with the project vision Assist with styling, staging, and final installation of interior spaces Project & Vendor Coordination
Coordinate with vendors, showrooms, and suppliers to request quotes, lead times, and samples Track orders, deliveries, and installation schedules Assist with on-site installs, styling days, and project punch lists Maintain accurate project documentation, specs, and design assets Organization & Operations
Manage samples, swatches, and the design library Assist with organizing client project files, budgets, and timelines Support procurement tracking and documentation Help maintain a clean, organized workspace during projects and installations Qualifications
1–3 years of experience in interior design, interior decorating, or a related creative field Strong visual eye for color, texture, scale, and composition Experience supporting client-facing design projects from concept through installation Proficiency with design tools such as Canva, SketchUp, AutoCAD, or similar (preferred but not required) Excellent communication skills with clients, vendors, and team members Highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and deadline-driven Ability to work both independently and collaboratively Comfortable juggling multiple projects and shifting priorities Additional Requirements
Flexible daytime availability (weekday hours required) Reliable transportation for local site visits, vendor sourcing, and installations Ability to lift up to 30 lbs, bend, reach, navigate stairs, and assist with physical setup tasks Professional, warm, polished, and client-focused demeanor Comfortable working in clients’ homes and maintaining discretion Ability to take high-quality project photos (before/after, styling details) Willingness to assist with light setup, breakdown, and post-install cleanup Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Ability to pass a background check and provide at least (3) three professional references Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends if needed Education
High school diploma or equivalent required Degree or coursework in interior design, interior decorating, fine arts, or a related field is a plus Key Competencies

This is a freelance position for an independent contractor to work on an as-needed basis with frequency expected to increase as the business grows
