Insurance Pre-Authorization Coordinator

Under general supervision of a licensed provider, the Insurance Pre‑Authorization Coordinator will be detail‑oriented with excellent phone diction and outstanding customer‑service skills. The role requires motivated individuals capable of problem‑solving and multitasking in a fast‑paced practice.
Job Description Summary
Obtain insurance authorizations for surgical procedures using online applications or direct contact with insurance companies.
Review schedules ahead of time to determine pre‑certification and prior authorization requirements.
Address insurance‑related patient concerns and coordinate financial responsibilities for deductibles, coinsurance, and copays.
Maintain organized working files of all authorization requests and enter approved authorizations into the system.
Coordinate and document all insurance duties as assigned.
Skills & Abilities
Personable and detail‑oriented representative of the practice.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for accurate documentation.
Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
Education & Experience
Minimum of 2 years of experience in an outpatient medical office, working in an Insurance Authorization or Pre‑Authorization/Certification role.
Excellent knowledge of CPT coding, ICD‑10 coding, and medical pre‑certification protocols.
Experience with authorization portals and pain management authorizations.
EMR/EHR experience is required.
