Designer IV

Job Description CPH is a multi‑disciplined Engineering and Architectural design firm that ranks in the nation’s Top 500 Design Firms by ENR Magazine. We are seeking a Designer IV – Utilities who will develop and execute design solutions across a wide variety of projects. The role requires close collaboration with clients and multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, architects, and project managers, to transform initial concepts into detailed, high‑quality designs.
Responsibilities
Lead development and refinement of design concepts that meet client needs and project goals, ensuring alignment with budget, schedule, and regulatory constraints.
Create detailed technical drawings, plans, and specifications using AutoCAD and other design software, ensuring compliance with industry standards, codes, and project specifications.
Collaborate with engineers, architects, designers, and clients to integrate technical requirements, structural elements, and aesthetic design into cohesive project solutions.
Participate in design reviews, making necessary modifications based on client and team feedback to maintain quality and adhere to project schedules and budgets.
Interpret building codes, safety regulations, and client requirements to guide the design process, ensuring all designs meet legal and safety standards.
Conduct research on materials, construction techniques, building codes, and industry trends to keep designs innovative and up to date.
Perform site visits to gather relevant data, assess construction progress, and evaluate feasibility, generating detailed reports on findings.
Calculate material quantities, cost estimates, and other data to support civil engineering and land development projects, assisting with construction plans and specifications.
Coordinate construction plans across various disciplines and ensure timely submission of design documents to regulatory agencies, supporting project management activities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Adobe Suite, and drafting techniques.
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Experience in Commercial, Retail, Restaurant, and Industrial projects is a plus.
Adaptable, receptive to instruction, and capable of working independently or collaboratively.
Excellent oral, written, and organizational skills.
Flexibility in work schedule to accommodate project deadlines.
Detail oriented, quality conscious, reliable, and self‑motivated.
Valid state‑issued driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 8‑10 years of design experience, focusing on commercial and residential projects.
Expertise in AutoCAD; proficiency in Revit, SketchUp, or similar tools is a plus.
