Overview
Circulation Supervisor, Belmont Public Library (Belmont). As we move into our BRAND NEW LIBRARY (opening January 2026), this role supervises and performs all circulation desk duties. Responsibilities include checking materials in and out, renewals, collecting and recording fees and fines, answering the main desk telephone, processing reservations and network transfers, notifying patrons of reserved materials availability, issuing library cards, and entering patron data into computer records. The role also plans, organizes, assigns and directs the work activities of all Circulation staff to ensure consistent application of department and library policies, procedures and guidelines; provides accurate, efficient and friendly services; creates work schedules and prepares timesheets; trains staff, new employees and volunteers; interviews and recommends circulation staff applicants and disciplinary actions; participates in ongoing training; represents the Library on network committees and attends network and other library meetings; assists patrons and responds to questions and concerns; sorts and processes materials from other libraries, and compiles statistics and contributes to newsletters and promotional materials. Troubleshoots minor photocopier operating problems. Salary and Benefits
The hourly pay range is $27.32 - $32.89. This position works 35 hours per week and is eligible for the Town’s comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental and life insurance. This position is in the SEIU Local 888 Union and is subject to the respective collective bargaining agreement. Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. One to three years library experience with supervisor and automated library circulation experience or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job. Position Details
