Position Summary The Dietitian will assess medical nutrition therapy needs, develop individualized care plans, counsel patients and families, and serve as an advocate for nutrition care for the acutely ill hospitalized patient. The role includes interprofessional collaboration and community consultation when contracted or requested.

Position is part-time:

0.5 FTE, 8‑hour day shifts, 20 hours per week.

Responsibilities

Assessment of medical nutrition therapy needs based upon the patient’s medical diagnosis, lab values, anthropometrics, medications, age‑specific requirements, and other comorbidity factors.

Development, implementation, and management of individualized, interdisciplinary team plans to achieve maximum nutrition support.

Provide counseling and education to patients/families on medical nutrition therapy principles.

Refer to other team members to optimize outpatient care and follow‑up.

Advocate for nutrition care for acutely ill hospitalized patients, act as a consultant to medical staff, and serve as a community nutrition consultant when contracted.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Food and Nutrition or related field.

Completion of a dietetic internship program.

Continuing education in accordance with policies of the Commission for Dietetic Registration for maintenance of registered status.

Within 6 months of hire: Alaska Dietitian license or Alaska Nutritionist license.

Upon hire: National CDR Registered Dietitian (Commission on Dietetic Registration).

Preferred Qualifications

At least 1 year of clinical experience.
