Girls First is a non‑profit, tuition‑free, out‑of‑school program for girls in grades one through four. Its mission is to build character, instill a positive sense of self, and provide tangible life skills through a creative curriculum of arts exploration, academic reinforcement, and emotional learning. Visual Arts Teaching Artist

for our Outreach afterschool programming in

Chester

on

Wednesdays

between the hours of

3:30‑5:30 pm, January through May . Lessons are in‑person at our Outreach partner locations. Responsibilities

Lead afterschool classes for groups up to 12 students at our partnership schools, following Girls First’s Artsee curriculum ($45/hr) Complete 2‑4 hours of paid training ($20/hr) prior to the program start date Complete teacher reflections after each lesson and student Pre‑Assessments/Post‑Assessments Receive regular feedback and site visits from Girls First staff Maintain professional correspondence with the on‑site coordinator and communicate any challenges to the Girls First Director of Education Prep and maintain arts materials (any materials needed will be provided) Prepare and present a culminating showcase of student work Qualifications

Previous teaching experience: 2‑5+ years of experience working with elementary‑aged students preferred Demonstrated proficiency in chosen art discipline Possess interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with diverse groups of students and create a safe and engaging learning environment Ability to practice patience, flexibility, and creative problem‑solving abilities Professional, punctual, and communicative Must have reliable transportation to Outreach sites Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check Clearance (Act 34) Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151) Federal Bureau of Investigation Record Check Clearance (Act 114) Please send your cover letter and resume to Alyssa Franklin, Director of Education at alyssa@girlsfirst.org.
