About the Position TravelNurseSource is partnering with Fusion Medical Staffing to find a qualified Medical/Surgical and Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13‑week travel assignment in Anchorage, Alaska. Required Qualifications
One year of recent Med Surg/Telemetry RN experience
Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
Current BLS (American Heart Association / American Red Cross) certification
Preferred Qualifications
NIH Stroke Scale certification
ACLS (American Heart Association / American Red Cross) certification
Other relevant certifications and licenses as needed
Summary The Med Surg/Telemetry Registered Nurse provides high‑quality, patient‑centered care on medical‑surgical and telemetry units. Key responsibilities include patient assessment, cardiac telemetry monitoring, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, effective care.
Essential Work Functions
Explain procedures and treatments to patients and families, addressing concerns and ensuring understanding
Administer prescribed medications and treatments in adherence to nursing standards
Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ conditions, documenting changes and reporting concerns to the care team
Prepare patients for diagnostic procedures, assist physicians during treatments, and monitor patient responses
Maintain a safe and comfortable environment for patients recovering from medical conditions or surgical procedures
Document comprehensive patient information, including vital signs, medications, treatments, and care outcomes, in the medical record
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, physical therapists, and social workers, to create and implement individualized care plans
Manage multiple patients efficiently, prioritizing care based on acuity and clinical needs
Ensure infection control practices are strictly followed, including hand hygiene and PPE use
Advocate for patients’ needs and preferences, ensuring they are respected and integrated into the care plan
Facilitate discharge planning, coordinating with patients, families, and external resources to ensure a smooth transition from hospital to home
Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice
Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
Required Essential Skills
Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication skills
Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English
Ability to understand written and verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills
Physical abilities to remain stationary, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, and bend
Interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse personnel
Technical and motor skills for fine manipulation during procedures
Mental resilience to cope with frequent public contact and pressure, and to work under shifting schedules
Sensory acuity and effective communication abilities
