Prepares tissue specimens for diagnostic examination by fixation, processing, embedding, microtomy (cutting/mounting), routine / special staining; Performs routine instrument operations with working knowledge of maintenance and troubleshooting protocol; Evaluates routine / special stains for expected reactivity and quality of section; Maintains records of special stain control results and department statistics as required. Performs automated immunohistochemistry staining and assists with Quality Assurance activities including procedure development and written protocols.

Position We are hiring for a Histotech Anatomic Pathology position at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, AK!
Position is full-time, 1.0 FTE, 8-hr Night shifts, 40 hours per week.

Required Qualifications
Associate's degree- From an accredited program with 12 semester (18 quarter hours) hours in biology and chemistry OR
Coursework/Training- At least 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) OR
Coursework/Training- Completion of a certified histology program approved by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP).AND
National Histotechnician - American Society for Clinical Pathology upon hire OR
National Histotechnologist - American Society for Clinical Pathology upon hire AND
1 year- Experience as a HT I or as a histotechnician / histotechnologist in a hospital histology lab or similar setting.
Preferred Qualifications
2 years- Experience as a HT I or as a histotechnician / histotechnologist in a hospital histology lab or similar setting.
