Registered Polysomnographic Technologist: Sleep Center
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The Registered Polysomnographic Technologist performs comprehensive polysomnographic testing and analysis, and associated interventions, including CPAP, BIPAP therapy, ASV/AVAPS, O2 administration, and TCO2 monitoring under the general supervision of the clinical director (MD, DO) or designee.
This role reviews patient information, prepares and calibrates equipment, applies electrodes and sensors, performs physiologic calibrations to ensure proper signals and adjusts accordingly, collects and documents data, observations, and significant events.
Scores sleep/wake stages and generates accurate reports for interpretation.
Performs mask fits, documents, and downloads data for interpretation.
Keeps lead tech and manager informed of issues.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Graduate from a CAAHEP Polysomnographic accredited program, the A-STEP program, or have completed one of the 5 Pathways to Registration as defined by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists.
Registry eligible.
Required to maintain 50 CEU’s every 5 years.
Experience with Carefusion diagnostic system preferred.
Certifications Required
BLS required.
RPSGT (Registered Polysomnographic Technologist) required.
At least one of the following: Registered with the Medical Board of California (RPSGT through CA), Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT), or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
