Software Development Manager, Prime Video Ads

Prime Video Ads team owns services that integrate with ad decision systems, handle dynamic transcoding and stitching of ad creatives across HLS/DASH/SS streaming protocols, and run the ads business on Prime Video for SVOD, channels, live and linear content.

We are seeking a talented Software Development Manager to grow and develop a team of passionate engineers to scale up our Channels business. As an SDM, you will be exposed to industry‑leading publishers and ad servers, and work on both established and green‑field AWS technologies and design large‑scale backend systems.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage and grow a team of software engineers, including their projects, performance, and career growth.
  • Clearly communicate project roadmaps with your team, management, and principal stakeholders.
  • Work with peer managers to determine scope and estimate development effort.
  • Lead systems design, architecture, and scaling discussions.
  • Influence and adopt industry standards.
  • Argue for the right outcomes with data, conviction, and diplomacy.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams.
  • 3+ years of designing or architecting new and existing systems.
  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi‑tier web services.
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns across the software/hardware/network development life cycle.
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy.
  • Experience recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of software engineers to improve their skills and effectiveness.

The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.
