Ando
Ando is hiring: Product Designer in San Francisco
Ando, San Francisco, California, United States
We’re looking for a founding product designer (based in San Francisco) who has strong visual instincts & a very very high attention to detail.
What we're doing at Ando
Teams are already building agents and using them across Slack, email, and other tools. But these platforms weren't designed for human‑AI collaboration. The answer isn't a better Slack though; we're rethinking communications from the ground up to support better collaboration between humans and agents.
About our brand & visual identity
- If architecture shapes how we live, then software shapes how we work. And the digital spaces we spend most of our working lives in are failing us. Tools like Slack were designed around messages, not meaning. The result is a torrent of pings, fragmented threads, and shallow context. Slack is an environment where people spend hours each day but rarely feel clarity or calm.
- Tadao Ando took concrete, a basic building material, and transformed it into spaces that elevate human experience. He stripped away noise to reveal what matters: light, space, and human connection. Similarly, we're taking everyday work communication and transforming it into a unified, calm platform where both humans and AI can do their best work.
- Visually, this translates to clean lines, neutral tones, and purposeful spacing. Every element has a reason for being where it is on the screen, and we endeavor to create a digital space that humans feel at ease when using day in and day out.
We really care about our work and about using AI in our daily lives. Don't proceed with applying if:
- You don't love LLMs / don't use them daily - And if you're not there yet, you should endeavor to be a DAU!
- You don't value craft and cannot speak to software that inspires you (you should be the type of designer with a massive folder of references)
What you’ll do:
- Lead the design of our core UI / UX, and dogfood the product every day
- Ask piercing questions and think deeply about end to end user flows
- Constantly review Posthog and iterate on designs
- Ship prototypes in v0, Figma Make, or Cursor, depending on what you prefer
- Collaborate with our engineers to ship and QA
- Contribute to and understand our evals pipeline
- Collaborate with our founder (designer herself) on brand identity and its translation to product design
Qualifications
- You’ve designed and shipped 0→1 products (whether your own side projects or at a startup < 50 people)
- Strong portfolio, experience designing around LLMs, and proficiency with v0, Figma Make, or other prototyping tools in addition to Figma
