Job Summary:
Dual Credit Adjunct Faculty at Texas Southmost College are professional educators who work on a limited basis, fulfilling the College’s mission of providing quality education for all students. The adjunct faculty member serves as a leader, teacher, advisor, and facilitator of learning, and is accountable to the College’s policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Plan and develop an optimal learning environment, ensuring accurate syllabi, attendance records, and timely grades.
Deliver high‑quality instruction and advising, using curriculum development, digital learning solutions, and clear communication of expectations.
Integrate real‑life contexts and interdisciplinary activities to enhance critical thinking and teamwork.
Participate in assessment of student learning, design assessments aligned with learning outcomes, and support the institution’s Student Outcomes Assessment Plans (SOAPs).
Engage in ongoing professional development, maintain required credentials and continuing education hours, and share best practices with colleagues.
Provide student support services referrals, maintain a learning‑centered classroom atmosphere, and promote student engagement.
Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and timely attendance; collaborate across the College to improve measurable learning outcomes.
Physical Demands Employees are frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands for tasks such as handling tools or lifting objects up to 25 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
