Responsibilities
Create and maintain an inclusive collection of books and resources that represents a wide range of cultures, identities, abilities, and experiences.
Develop materials that support curriculum, student interests, and school mission.
Manage library budget to ensure strategic allocation of resources.
Inspire a love of reading, foster students' critical thinking skills, and empower students to be capable researchers and ethical users of information.
Develop and teach library lessons that teach empathy, information literacy, research skills, and digital citizenship.
Collaborate with faculty members to design effective research programs that support students in independent research.
Ensure library space is welcoming for students and faculty.
Oversee all aspects of library services, including circulation, reference, technical services, and facility management.
Lead and supervise library staff, promoting an inclusive environment committed to serving the learning needs of the community.
Requirements
Master of Library Science (MLS) or equivalent advanced degree required.
Previous experience as a K–12 librarian is required, preferably involving lower and middle school students.
Proven ability to develop and deliver information literacy curriculum.
U.S. Work Authorization required.
Desired Qualities
Experience working in independent schools preferred, but not required.
Proficiency with Accessit Library Database.
Desire to be involved in school‑wide initiatives and extracurricular activities.
