Position Overview St. Charles Community College invites qualified candidates to apply for the
full‑time Communications Faculty
position to begin
Fall 2026 for the 2026-2027 academic year . Courses will include general education requirements, oral communication, interpersonal communication, public speaking, small group communication, argumentation and debate, as well as other speech communication, mass communication or journalism courses as needed. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, student learning, assessment, and the use of technology to improve student learning outcomes. The candidate will also demonstrate use of varied teaching techniques to help students develop critical thinking, research skills, and understand the relevance of history in their lives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Impart expertise, enthusiasm, and creativity in the instruction of communications content to a diverse student population with various learning styles and abilities.
Effectively prepare and present course content, drawing upon disciplinary knowledge, skills, theories, issues, research, and applications to design engaging and effective learning experiences.
Maintain the appropriate number of office hours at times convenient for students.
Provide meaningful feedback and timely responses to students' work and questions.
Meet all division, department, and college deadlines.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance and report attendance as required.
Keep careful grade records throughout the academic term.
Attend scheduled faculty meetings and training sessions.
Perform ongoing student, program, and college assessment activities, including analysis of course assessments, evaluations, and data to engage in continuous improvement and enhance student success, retention, and completion.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's Degree in Speech Communication, Communication, or Mass Communication.
At least 18 credits of approved coursework in Speech Communication, Communication, or Mass Communication.
Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. in Speech Communication, Communication, or Mass Communication.
Community College teaching experience.
Demonstrated excellence in online teaching and Quality Matters (QM) certification.
