This is an opportunity for students interested in social media and content creation. The KU Creators program from KU’s marketing department highlights student POV on the University of Kansas’ flagship social media channels, including TikTok and Instagram Reels.
Job Description As a KU Creator, you will bring authentic student voices to our flagship social media channels. Working closely with the KU social team, you will craft engaging content that showcases campus life from a student perspective. You will explore emerging social trends in higher education, maintain a consistent university voice on social media, and contribute to online conversations about KU.
Core Responsibilities
40% - Content Creation : Collaborate with editorial, digital media, and design teams to create content for IG stories, IG Reels, and TikTok.
30% - Planning Social Content : Share ideas for content creation, both written and visual.
20% - Research Social Media Trends : Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in social media & the higher education industry.
10% - Community Engagement & Social Listening : Create, listen to, and participate in the social conversation about KU.
Required Qualifications
Coursework or work experience that demonstrates strong attention to detail as evidenced in application materials.
Evidence of strong communication & content creation skills as evidenced in application materials.
Basic knowledge of social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, X & Facebook) as evidenced in application materials.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines as demonstrated by previous work history or coursework.
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to take direction and work independently while also being responsive and accessible during assigned work hours.
A team player with self‑initiative, a strong work ethic, and a positive collaborative attitude.
Understand social media voice and can communicate professionally.
Experience creating and/or engaging with short‑form video content.
Experience managing social media channels and creating content for multiple platforms.
Passion for the University of Kansas and eagerness to share that with other Jayhawks worldwide.
Position Requirements During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre‑enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).
Employment Conditions Student employees are
not
eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.
