Job Description
Basic Purpose
Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities involving the production of videos for use in employee training programs and/or to provide information to the public. This includes writing and editing scripts, researching information and materials, providing audio and video support for agency related events, and shooting, producing and editing videos to meet established goals and objectives.
Typical Functions
Review raw video footage and audio recordings to identify sensitive or protected information. Apply frame-accurate visual redactions using blurring, masking or solid overlays. Remove, mute, or mask sensitive audio content while preserving intelligibility of permitted speech. Correct errors and reprocess video footage and/or audio recordings as needed. Perform additional tasks if assigned by supervisor.

This is the career level of this job family where employees are assigned responsibilities at the full performance level for development and completion of assigned projects, including design, content and production, post-production and delivery. At this level, employees have an understanding of the ethics and concepts that apply to this position.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required at this level include knowledge of audiovisual production methods, video and audio editing, legal awareness, confidentiality, data transfer protocols, attention to detail, customer service and of techniques for researching and gathering information.
Skill required at this level include skill in time-management; paying attention to detail; and working in a team environment.
Education and Experience
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of a bachelor’s degree in mass communications, journalism, or a closely related field plus two (2) years of qualifying experience in in video production, videography, or photo journalism; or an equivalent combination of education and experience substituting one (1) year of experience in for each year of the required education plus two (2) years of qualifying experience in video production, videography, or photo journalism.
Special Requirements
Some agencies require applicants to meet some or all of the special requirements identified below:
- Applicants must be in possession of a valid Oklahoma driver’s license at time of employment.
- Applicants must take and pass a drug test prior to appointment.
- Applicants must be able to work a 40-hour work week.
- Applicants must be willing to compete all job-related educational training provided by DPS when assigned.
- Applicant must be willing to complete additional tasks assigned by the supervisor, if needed.
- The Department of Public Safety has determined positions in this job family are safety sensitive as defined by 63 O.S. § 427.8.
