Overview

This role is for a Character Animator on a contract basis for over 6 months, offering $15,000 annually. Key skills include proficiency in 2D/3D animation, software like Maya and Blender, and experience with Unity or Unreal Engine.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and animate characters for diverse media, including films, anime episodes, and manga using the means of their choice.
  • Create smooth, realistic motion graphics and character movements that align with project narratives and artistic direction.
  • Collaborate with the design team to conceptualize character behaviors, expressions, and sequences that enhance storytelling.
  • Develop custom animation tools within Unity or Unreal Engine environments.
  • Perform post-production editing to refine animations, integrate visual effects, and ensure seamless final outputs.
  • Maintain organized project files using version control systems like Perforce and adhere to production schedules.
  • Apply knowledge of anatomy, color theory, typography, and digital art principles to improve character realism and aesthetic appeal.
  • Assist in the creation of storyboards and illustrations using Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop as needed for pre-visualization purposes.
  • Stay updated on industry trends in computer graphics, motion design, and animation techniques to continuously improve skillset.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in character animation across 2D and 3D platforms with a strong portfolio demonstrating animated characters in various styles.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software including Maya, Cinema 4D, Blender, ZBrush, Mudbox, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects), and video editing tools like Adobe Premiere.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, C#, or C++ for automation and tool development within Unity or Unreal Engine environments.
  • Strong understanding of anatomy, motion dynamics, color theory, typography, and digital art fundamentals.
  • Experience with post-production workflows including compositing and video editing.
  • Familiarity with game engines like Unity or Unreal Engine for integrating animations into interactive environments.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of computer graphics principles including lighting, rendering, texturing, and rigging is highly desirable.
