Central Market Dallas Store Artist - Full-Time

The Art Specialist will bring the Central Market brand experience to life within the stores. Each location reflects a unique expression of our brand, creating a stage that tells our product stories. Think of yourself as a theater set designer who transforms the grocery trip into a food adventure where customers discover the best of every department. Artwork may include hand‑crafted lettering, sign and mural painting, event production and installation, 3D retail display design, and custom illustration.

Responsibilities

  • Creates hand‑crafted, eye‑catching artwork and displays to tell product stories that sell products through signs, banners, chalkboards, foam art, and sculptures.
  • Serves as Central Market Brand Ambassador in the store, ensuring all art and event experiences enhance and align with the store’s unique look and division‑provided concept.
  • Researches product information and themes to craft compelling, accurate stories for signature events.
  • Creates chalkboard art in key departments to communicate product stories, showcase deals, and drive sales.
  • Develops supporting marketing materials such as banners, menus, handouts, posters, badge flappers, and internal communications.
  • Conceptualizes and produces camera‑ready painted signs, foam art, and sculptures in various sizes and mediums.
  • Creates larger‑scale art pieces using materials like foam board, paper mâché, plaster, cardboard, wood, fabric, and found materials.
  • Completes superficial sculpture, 3‑D layering, and faux techniques (wood, marble, stone, paper, metal, etc.).
  • Manages weekly sale sign production, including attribute signs and pricing tags.
  • Maintains the studio by cleaning, storing signs and props, and caring for tools, computers, printers, and laminators.
  • Researches and stays current on different styles and techniques.
  • Decorates for in‑store partner celebrations and events.
  • Once eligible, becomes an owner‑shareholder in the company, reflecting Partner‑owned values of people‑driven innovation and growth.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience in commercial art, freelance, or studio work.
  • Technical knowledge of construction and basic tools (hammers, screwdrivers, routers, jigsaws, drills).
  • Strong understanding and comfort with acrylic‑ and latex‑based paints, brush control, composition, color theory, value, perspective, and finish selection.
  • Knowledge of appropriate use of glues, adhesives, chemicals, stains, treatments, and solvents.
  • Familiarity with MS Office.
  • Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Illustrator on a Mac.
  • Excellent communication and customer‑service skills.
  • Strong hand lettering and painting abilities.
  • Drafting and drawing skills.
  • Ability to copywrite or source copy when needed.
  • Capability to complete projects in a fast‑paced environment and adapt quickly to business needs, with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a highly cross‑functional, dynamic, and collaborative team environment.

Location: Dallas, TX | Salary: $55,000 – $65,000 | Employment Type: Full‑time | Seniority Level: Entry‑Level
