Job Details
The Audio Integrator at Sight & Sound is responsible for implementing and maintaining cutting‑edge audio systems that support immersive theatrical experiences across both our Lancaster and Branson theaters. This role combines expert‑level technical knowledge in spatial audio, system integration, and show operations with a collaborative approach to support creative storytelling through sound. The Audio Integrator ensures that all audio elements function seamlessly in alignment with show needs and organizational standards.
Responsibilities
- Integrate immersive sound systems tailored to venue architecture and performance format.
- Install and maintain loudspeakers, playback systems, microphones, and spatial audio platforms.
- Ensure proper system configuration and tuning for 360° audio coverage and speech intelligibility.
- Collaborate with Audio Designers and Producers to implement interactive and spatial audio cues.
- Program and support show control systems (e.g., QLab, OSC, MIDI, Dante, Timecode, Q‑SYS).
- Serve as the principal liaison between Audio Design and Show Operations teams across both locations.
- Coordinate with departments including Lighting, Scenic, and Projection to maintain audio consistency.
- Provide support during rehearsals and performances to troubleshoot and refine sound cues.
- Use measurement tools (e.g., Smaart) to analyze, calibrate, and tune immersive systems.
- Maintain detailed spatial audio mapping, room modeling, and acoustic performance documentation.
- Generate and maintain detailed system documentation, signal flow diagrams, and configuration archives.
- Provide training to house technicians and operators to ensure consistent operation and maintenance.
- Support budget development and resource planning alongside Story and Show Operations teams.
- Perform routine system checks, upgrades, and maintenance to ensure reliability and performance.
Qualifications
- Expert knowledge of mixing consoles, audio processors, and immersive audio platforms.
- Effective communicator and team collaborator across creative and technical disciplines.
- Ability to remain focused and adaptable under pressure or unexpected challenges.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and common production software.
Working in this role would place you in active theatrical and studio settings, with exposure to loud sound levels, mechanical systems, and live animals. Requires physical mobility, occasional ladder use, and comfort with a high‑decibel environment.
