Part‑time Instructor – Writing and Composition

Husson University’s School of Science and Humanities is seeking part‑time instructors to teach the following courses:

  • First‑Year Composition I and II – instruction focuses on argumentation and other strategies for developing college‑level writing abilities.
  • Communication – courses include Speech, Professional Communication, and Interpersonal Communication.
  • Writing in the Health Professions – instruction requires research writing (Literature Review), APA formatting, interoffice communication, and public health communication within the health care context.
  • Writing Workshop Lab – facilitators are responsible for meeting with developmental English students to address their writing assignments; a single instructor may facilitate more than one section.

Administrative Duties

  • Adapt the Husson course syllabi and outcomes to prepare syllabi for assigned courses.
  • Prepare and teach the assigned courses with student learning outcomes and academic rigor in mind.
  • Learn and apply all relevant Husson academic and faculty policies.
  • Work collaboratively with the Chair of Humanities, the Writing Program Administrator, and other faculty.
  • Learn and use Husson’s Canvas CMS, Gmail, faculty and portal.
  • Attend occasional training or coordination meetings.

Typical Qualifications

  • Masters degree in English, Communications, or related field for Composition I, II instructors.
  • Masters degree in English or Communications, or related field and some experience working in the health professions strongly preferred for Writing in the Health Professions instructors.
  • Masters degree in Communication or related field for Communication instructors.
  • Some graduate work in English or related field with understanding of English Composition, writing process, grammar, and mechanics for Lab Facilitators.
  • Some college teaching experience preferred for all positions.
